I seen the word jewelry and was intrigued but what drawn me in was the inspiration that happened when I saw the word International. I mean, I was going to see jewelry flown in from around the world for my eyes to see, to witness, to be inspired by and to be put on my blog.
I was ready to see well-crafted pieces that would make me go ooo and awe, but it was the opposite. I entered Dallas Market Hall, well dressed with my friend, and people were dressed in regular garments and I wondered what presentation was being presented. I was soon to find out that the name of the event should probably be changed to The International jewelry making convention because a lot of the items were for purchase to make your own jewelry. I was a first timer and will love to make jewelry but the show wasnt catered to first timers because there was no how to books in sight. I was highly disappointed but still excited because of all the different jewelry pieces I saw.
I wanted to keep going because maybe we would find some pieces that were already put together and that I would be inspired to purchase. We did come across some unique pieces that caught our eye but we were immediately treated harshly when we desired to take pictures. There wasnt any signs (that I saw) that said no pictures. I really desired to write about each piece on my blog but here are some images before I had to put my camera away.
As you can see, a lot of the jewelry was repetive and the creators were too. I understand about feeding off people’s jewelry but everyone there having a similar look was beyond annoying. I hardly seen any trend setters that I could take outside and glamour my soon to be audience with. I hardly saw diversity in the jewelry as well and I desired to know which cultured I was shopping.
I guess Im going to have to pay more than $10 to truly see international or the coordinator of the event will have to learn how to seek out true fashion buyers that I can really put together a show for all taste because frankly I would have looked like the next that were buying from there. Also, it should definitely be informed to people who pay to be inspired that pictures arent allowed, visibly!!!
I walked away with a few inspirations but still hungry for more that I wasnt going to find that day.
I did see some things that is still calling my name and kind of regret I didnt purchase but I will take the spark instead. I see designer merging out of me really soon but if I want to see International jewelry, I must be an explorer not just take a trip to Dallas.
